5 days of Styling

Below is a collection of the assignments I completed during my time in the 5 days of Styling course at Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design in London.

Still Life shoot

After a session of learning the ins and outs of still life photography with Tim Rennie, we were assigned to create a still life around an item from the brand Neri Karra. Having a handful of Neri Karra purses, wallets and keychains to choose from we were responsible for selecting an item, creating a story, sourcing our props, shooting and selecting the final image.

The Concept behind the shoot was to tell the story of a distant love. The Neri Karra heart chain is a gift from a partner, and the letter is a thank you in return.

Personal Styling

For our personal styling assignment we met in pairs, talked a bit about what we like and don’t like, and gave each other a theme or event for the look.

My partner was Laina and her event was a party that her crush will be at. After getting to know Laina for the week, discussing her likes and dislikes, as well as taking a look at her social media I created this look for her party. Laina tends to dress very sleek and chic, taking elements from Y2K and luxury styles. From her instagram I noticed mini skirts, high boots and negative space in a lot of her outfits, I wanted to emulate these details reminiscent of Y2K style in her party outfit.

All items were sourced from Net-a-porter. After the reveal Laina said she really liked the look!

Celebrity Styling

This task was to style a celebrity, with the celebrity and theme chosen for us. Carey Mulligan for the Met Gala under the theme Extragalactic.

Menswear advertising mood boards

This task was to complete two mood boards with the intention of creating styled menswear looks for look-books and advertising, aligned with a popular menswear theme. For the themes I choose color, and prints and patterns.

The first mood board is focused on color. Bright pink shiny pants! Something not a lot of men would wear, except what kind of man- a rockstar!

For print and pattern I let clothing lead me to a cozy direction. A relaxing day at home somewhere in the pacific north-west.

Clothing sourced from Net-a-porter, models found on models1.co.uk

Street style photography

The Street Style shoot was a challenge to go out to the surrounding area of soho and find a stylish person that represented great street style and then capture an image of them. Luckily for me I found 3 people! After greeting these boys and them allowing me to take a photo, I learned their matched outfits was in fact an accident!

Street style isn’t always about being on trend, its about wearing your personal look confidently and I thought these boys captured that energy perfectly.
