Spring Fling Mini Collection

My mini collection Spring fling was created entirely with up-cycled fabrics, silk scarves, lace doilies and with the help of a reworked tank top and skirt. The collection is intended to be a fun, flirtatious and elegant modge-podge of vintage fabrics to welcome spring.

All the looks are named after my beautiful friends and models, everything was styled and set by myself.

You can find context for Mr. Pattinson here.

The Riley dress, a patchwork of silk scarves fastened as a wrap dress with an open back, and the lightness of a feather. I created this dress by piecing together a few loose ideas and seeing where it took me, which is how I tend to put together all my work. I started with the light blue scarf on top, perfect length for a wrap, and a pile of perfectly color coordinated scarves of blue, brown, yellow and white. I laid the pieces on my floor and mixed them into different configurations until I found something I like, then sewed it all together.

The Lola set, a sassy and spunky set made to make you feel like your most confident self. I first had the idea for the skirt, I am absolutely obsessed with tying scarves in this way that looks like a flower. I was inspired by this and again a set of colors I could see working well together. I spent a lot of timing playing with the placement and drapery on my mannequin, once I had everything pinned in a place I liked I begun the process of hand sewing the skirt. With a zipper in the back and a nude colored under layer the skirt is totally functional and wearable. The top I envisioned to match the skirts energy and movement while not stealing the show.

The Lila set, It began with the collar piece of the vest, a natural shape of the doilies that I knew could be the starting piece for a great vest. This then snowballed into the vision for the whole design: a skirt to match, in a mermaid shape, with a bustle and a train, almost overwhelming pieced together with doilies. I completed the vest first with what I had and then was set on a mission to collect more for the skirt, I luckily found a one stop shop to load up on second hand material and went straight to work. I started with an up-cycled mini skirt for the bottom layer, then I let the doilies tell me where they wanted to be placed based on how they fit with each other. I hand sewed everything together and added a detachable train (knowing that I would like this to also be worn mildly-practically at some point). And thus the Lila set was born.
